Default A/C vacuum Question - 1977

This is kind of difficult to explain...here goes...I have a question about the amber colored fixture that holds the vacuum hoses into the back of the A/C control panel on a '77. First off, I have all of the diagrams. The thing that holds the hoses has a place for 4; actually there are 5, but one is sealed (i.e. I can't put a hose into it.) First off - The problem is that the car did not have A/C originally. The "No A/C" set-up has the defroster vacuum diaphram w/ two hoses, but there is no place to hook the bottom hose, can I just clamp it off. I have the corvette assembly manual form Wilcox, but it even shows two different types of hose set-ups. Anyone have any ideas of what the set-up should really look like?
