Default 1977 A/C Question

I have all of the vacume lines exposed and am attempting to get things to work porperly. The issue: the vacume diaphgram that opens the defroster door has two nipples - one on the top and one on the bottom. the assembly manual only shows an attachment for one vacume hose on the top. If I follow the diagram in the book, I have no place to connect the bottom vacume line -- any ideas?

Check the AIM diagrams again. The mystery of the bottom connection might be on a different AIM page.

I'm confused...do you have an extra vac hose or an extra nipple?
Bottom line on the dash control are numbers.#3 goes to the defrost,#4 goes to the AC air valve which is right under the defrost,#5 goes to a T that goes to the recirc door and the outside air valve#1 goes to a T that goes to the engine source vacuum and inside water shutoff switch#2 is blank

The defroster diaphragm has 2 nipples on it...one at the top and one at the bottom. on page 134 (sheet 63.5) of the AIM it explains how to route the defroster hoses. My car has A/C which reflects the digrams on page 133, showing a single vacume hose to the defroster valve. I am begininning to think that someone before me replaced the valve (with the wrong one). everyithing else on the car is correct.

Yup. Could well be. AIM will list the original part number for the one you want.
