Does anyone know if there is a difference between the flywheels used on the 350/350 and the 427/390 in 69" They both use the 11" clutch. I have 2 flywheels that came on a 350's and need one for my 427. I have not tried to fit one up yet.
No difference. Both used the larger 168 tooth 14" flywheel and the same 621 bellhousing.
Here's a bit of trivia; for some reason, the 427 ZL-1 engine received the smaller flywheel, 153 tooth, and the 403 bellhousing. Though the smaller set up would rpm quicker it wouldn't have the holding power of the larger clutch.
Even though the ZL1, L88 and LT1 small block used the small flywheel and 10.5 inch clutch disk, the "L88" pressure plate had about 3000 lb of pressure. I drove a '65 Vert in a parade last summer with one of these pressure plates and my left leg's still shaking!
In spite of the smaller diameter, it does have the holding power!
