81 automatic door locks
how do you fix them? Passenger door will unlock sometimes. Otherwise you have to do it manualy. Is the automatic door locks tied into the security system? First time vette owner and appreciate any help.

No they are not tied to the security system. You can first try cleaning and lubricating the latch mechanisms and rods. You will have to remove the door latch to do this. There are posts in the archives with pictures on how to do this. Another option is to remove the door lock actuators and use your key to lock and unlock the doors and push/pull the door lock stem when inside the car. If you choose the latter, you will have non power locks of course. Welcome to the forum.

Mine never worked, the servos were bad. I took a long standard screwdriver and with the door panels off, popped the mechanism loose from the servo motor. No power, but they open much easier with the key!

Yup. I removed my actuators in my 79 in July 07.
