Anyone else had an issue with the shifter in the Keisler kit breaking? Nothing in the transmission mind you, but the handle (between the shift **** and the tranny) broke.
I bought the car with the transmission in it and it has been driven pretty sparingly for the last two years. It was in the car for about two years before that (not sure on the usage).
Well, got a call from the shop that the shifter shaft broke above the two mounting holes to the transmission.
That's weird, must be the same Japanese plant that made that shifter stem/bar that went into my '80 Dodge D50, Mutsobitchy built, some 25++ years ago....warranty claim....long story...
wow you would think the stick to be bullet proof. i have a tko from keisler with no problems for now buy i think i will pull the stick and look at it ....thanks for the info......
No, Dave is talking about the actual shifter handle, not the shifter. BTW, Dave, what color is the shifter base? If it's not blue, you might see about getting the new upgraded shifter that Keisler has. That'll help eliminate any future problems if you let Patrick drive Katy. Sorry guys, inside joke.
Also, have you bought a replacement shift handle yet? I found my spare Hurst handle if you want it. Just shoot me an email.

I need to check the base, but if I recall we went down that path when Doug dropped his transmission (we were going to pull mine that day too if it was questionable). Since then I contacted Keisler and they also verified that it should not be affected based on the build date. Probably worth double-checking the tower when the car is back from the shop.
Unfortunately I just ordered the new shifter yesterday... but, I suppose I could look at returning it. I will check with you off-line.
