Quick question. What do you think of the Edelbrock 2162 Cam? I'm looking at an engine package that has one.

For the 454 BB Corvette a little more cam is rec.! Don't think you would be happy w/ it. Edel. 2162
Duration at .050 Lift: Intake 218° Exhaust 228° Lobe Separation: 114°
The problem w/ Edel. cams is not enough selection. Relatively few have Corvettes.
I prefer a cam grinder so there is more selection. Basically you want a min. of
Duration at .050 Lift: Intake 224° like Comp Cams 270H or XE268. LS 110
If you drive hard w/ your 4spd. more can be run like
Duration at .050 Lift: Intake 230° like Comp Cams 280H or XE274. LS 110

Thanks for the reply. An engine that I'm looking at (disassembled) has this cam with it. I suppose I could just get it and sell the cam. I've done some searching on the web and I mostly see this cam being used in Trucks.

What's the nomenclature for the Comp Cams, is XEXXX mechanical and XXXH hydraulic? Just curious.

Thanks

2162 is good cam for a truck.

Many use those terms. CS268H & XE262H is more correct & both are hyd.

Ganey

Will those cams work with the stock BB exhaust manifolds? Is the exhaust to restricted with the cast iron?

Thanks

Cam Street maybe, current catalog just shows the H on end. They need some ID.

Cool,
While we're on the subject, do you have any preferences or recommendations for a book on cam theory?

Have no books on it. Read everything in sight then did it. Clem recently posted a link. Look for that link.
