Default Door shell swap

I have to put a new shell on my drivers side. Question is should I mount the empty shell first, or transfer everything into the new one before install. Thanks.

It's not nearly as heavy when it's bare. and less chance of dropping it and breaking the glass.

I'd mount them empty since their lighter and easier to align.

BTW, where did you get your new shells and how much?

I agree that the 'lighter the better'. I would put the latch mechanism in first though, because I think that helps you with the rough alignment and gaps.

Alan

There's a guy in desoto parting an '82 collector ed. He still has the passenger side with all internals (drive train is gone ). Look on Dallas Craigslist. There's also somebody with a set off a 76 for like 500, and i think someone parting a 74 as well. I only paid $75 for the drivers shell, pretty good deal I think.
