Default 1979 Radiator Upper Hose Type?

Hi!

Can someone please tell me what's the exact radiator upper hose that I need for the 1979? There seem to be several available, for example EARLY and LATE 79. I don't know which one is right for me. My car has the 3-door compartment and 85 mph speedo.

I would really appreciate the proper length and diameter of the hose I need, because I might find the right thing from one of our US car stores even if they don't have the exact Corvette hose available.

I currently have this on the car and it has a really weird curve at the end which I haven't seen on any other Vettes and the hose goes about 50% thinner there due to the heavy flexing. I believe this is a potential high pressure causer in the hose and better be replaced.

Thank you!

That does look rather ungainly. I just put a new top hose on my '76 today but I don't have the part number handy.

If nobody else has answered by Tues morning, I'll go out and look for ya. Right now it's 1AM and I've got a 7&7 in hand ... dont' expect to be going outside till Morning.

Default Hose

It is correct but I think it must be turned so the bend nearly touch the fan shroud

So you're saying it's the proper hose I have? I assume that last curve does not need to be so sharp. I hope that when I bend it to a different position, the hose is able to return to normal shape.

That is not the correct hose. I think the water neck side is 1-1/2" and the radiator size is 1-1/4". Total length is around 24", At least on mine it is. I have the flexible metal kind so I can shape it the way I want. You may want to go that route if finding exact replacements is difficult.

The correct part number for a late 79 is #14016075. You can find one at Dewitts. http://www.dewitts.com/download/2006catalog.pdf (page 18). It mentions the diameter.
Since you are not the original owner and do not know exactly what was done I would suggest measuring the inlet.

The 85 speedo would indicate a late 79. Is your serial number after #48940?The two compartment rear storage change was toward the end of the run. Real late getting ready for the 80's.

Perhaps the store where you go for parts can cross reference the number.

good luck.
