'82 with cruise control
I have an '82 I go to college here at UF (go gators!) I use my car for any commutes that I dont wanna use my sportster for such as the 3 hours drive home to stuart. anyways I think I heard you can install an effective cruise control on the car. It would definitely be nice to have cruise control for the three hour drives any insight to such a project?

It can be done; the parts are available. If your car did not come with that option, there is significant work to put the original version in your car. I'd recommend that you research some aftermarket electronic cruise controls and install one of them instead.

You can put in the stock cruise control, but it's a lot of work. Have to replace speedo cable, replace the turn signal lever, run wiring down steering column, mount transducer to engine. And it's not cheap.
I don't think an aftermarket unit will work with the Crossfire engine ( computer controlled dual throttle bodies).

We used to purchase them from Audiovox back in the early 80’s and hang then on cars for customers. I’m sure they still have something that will work. You may want to do a Google on them or cruise control and see what is available. This would be way cheaper than trying to put factory cruise on a car that did not have it.
