Default Trailing arm replace...new or rebuilt

My trailing arms and bearings are original. I don't have any problems with them at this time, but in the future, I know they should be replaced. Has anyone installed the rebuilt arms from CC or Zip? How do they compare to new in quality? They are more than half the price of new. Any suggestions??

If yours are not rotted out or bent then rebuild those. A CA car, those arms are probably in better shape then any exchange arm. You can rebuild yours and know what you have.
Look up my threads on the job, maybe you can tackle it yourself.
Good luck

If the outside of the arms are badly rusted then the inside is worse. If the outside can be cleaned up without pitting then just do the best you can sandblasting the insides and rebuild them. We have a TA rebuild kit, tools and instructions on our website including Timken bearings and new SS parking brake parts. Here is a link to the page.

If the arms themselves are in good shape and you have the money, send them out. There are several good rebuilders, if you search the forum you will learn everything you ever wanted to know.

I am halfway through rebuilding mine, doing all the work myself. It is a big job. GTR1999's threads have been invaluable. Got most of the parts (bearings, seals, E-brake kit) from Duntov. They also sell the spindle knocker and "rent" the spindle tools, which you must have.

I really enjoy the time I spend working in the car, and also learning about how it all goes together. That said, if I had it to do over, I would send them out. I will save money in the end, even after having bought a (used) press, micrometer, dial guage stand, bearing splitter, spindle knocker, etc. The problem is, with the time I've spent, the money I saved works out to about $3 an hour

If you want to put wider tires on it you can get offset trailing arms. I got mine from VBP.
