OK guys couple quick questions. I am in the middle of rebuilding my rear suspension & trailing arms.
I'm ready to start on the bearings. Do I need to buy a special tool to install the new races in the carrier, or can I tap them in with a brass punch, the way I got them out?
Also, the spring mounting bolts on my car are 9/16 - 12, and 3 1/4" long. The hardware stores only stock grade 8 bolts in 3" or 3 1/2". Will 3 1/2" work?
Hi Chris,
About your second question....the two rear bolts should be O.K., but the two front bolts thread into blind holes in the case, so you risk having them bottom out and cracking the case.
The usual vendors do sell the proper bolts.

Alan

While you might get away with the gamble of tapping them in, I would be remiss not to suggest that you either get the correct bearing tool(s) for installing the races or take them to a reputable shop to have them pressed in properly.
