Default Any clue what this is?

I'm spending the day tearing into the engine bay of the '77, with an eye to pulling out anything broken or unnecessary (A/C stuff, cruise control, CA emissions). This is under where the brake booster lived. Anyone know what it is?

Looks like it was bypassed a long time ago too. Usually you'll have a short speedo cable going from transmission to the Cruise Control Transducer, and then another short speedo cable from that, to the speedometer.

They were usually the weak point and when the speedometer stopped working it was because the transducer failed. It was cheaper to buy a one piece speedo cable to bypass it than it was to replace it.

Keep it. You need it for the cruise control. You can rebuild what you have if you need to, or use yours for a core on a rebuilt one.
