Default Rear Spring Bolt Kit Question

I'm looking to drop the rear on my 77 a bit and if I get a Rear Spring Bolt Kit with longer bolts this will let me do so correct? The set I'm looking at have Poly bushings and are 2 inch longer from Duntov Motor Company for $56.00 shipped. Also when I replace them will this effect anything other than the ride height?
Thanks

Grease them very well or you'll get lots of squeeking.

Also have it aligned after changing the height using the bolts.

Changing the rear spring bolts and/or cushions shouldn't affect alignment unless ride height is changed in the process, as the spring plays no direct role in suspension geometry. In the event ride height is changed, tho that will affect camber and static toe (caster is N/A here), the overall toe-steer curve (the theoretical graph of how toe moves during suspension travel) will go unchanged with only the static toe point moving to a different location on that curve relative to the "new" ride height. Logically, the less change in ride height, the less anything to do with rear alignment will be changed.

"So?", or "WT#?", you might ask. IMCO, as long as your rear toe is correct now and you don't drastically alter your height (i.e. slam your ride), you most likely needn't worry about checking/adjusting anything other than possibly the rear camber. To see if and how much ride height may be changed, I suggest checking the "D" height spec (see below) before and after any work, making sure the suspension is fully settled between each measurement. Yes, installing new strut rods may change your camber.

Of course, if you're not sure of your current alignment or DIY'ing any of this makes you uncomfortable, by all means enlist an alignment shop known to be proficient with C2/C3's. But, FWIW, it's a good idea to learn at least a little about these matters first; making you a more difficult mark for either Bubba or anyone else who may be looking to fleece another unwary Vette owner.

If your bushings are NOT worn, Go to fastenal. I bought 2 Grade 8 bolts 8 inches long for less than 6 bucks. My 80 was way to high with the 6 inch ones that came with my repro 9 leaf spring. It looks better, not all jacked up.

I did the same thing.....I went to Fastenal, and got some Grade 8 10" bolts for the 68,but they weren't threaded far up enough,so I could have all the adjustment that I wanted,so had a local machine shop thread the shanks further. It cost me about 27.00 for bolts, and machine shop, and have all the adjustments that I want now.
