oil pressure sender
My oil pressure gauge has been acting very erratic, needle bouncing all over. I replaced the oil pressure sender and now the needle is pegged on the high side. The new one has a much larger inlet for the oil than the old one. Would this cause a misreading?

Sounds like they gave you the wrong unit. If the old one was erratic it may have just been the connector on the wire. The new one might be just a oilpressure warning switch instead of a sensor. Put the old one back in and make sure the wire on the unit is secure. You can use teflon tape but only 1 wrap. The sender threads will cut thru the tape and push it into the voids between the threads. If you put on 2 or 3 wraps it might not and can isolate the ground connection preventing the gauge from working at all.
