i'm following all this but can anybody verify 3 things for a 71?
1. the clutch rod hole is there with a cover over it?
2. i need to cut a big hole like that to get all the recessed area out?
3. master cylinder will have to be clocked?
just checking that these items are true/apply to 71 also.. thanks
1.Yes the hole is already there and the 3 holes for the screws are already drilled.
2. No. The early C3 cars had a fiberglass floor and there is already a hole there. You still need to make a small plate as the hole is larger than needed.
3. No master cylinder is in the stock location
David- That looks great. You are making great progress.

How 'bout another access plate on the side of tunnel for adjustments?
Something that i have seen done before and wanted to do to my car is fabricate another removalble plate on the side of the tunnel to adjust/work on the linkage. Man the linkage is always extremly difficult to work on once installed and hey the shifters seem to need more adjustment with use and wear.
I hear you there but I guess I am lucky that I put in the TKO500. Doesn't look like a lot of adjustment points on this one for me to deal with but if there were, I would think you are on to something there.
Have you thoughts on how this plate should look and how large it might need to be?
If you took the plate that Binnie designed and I duplicated you could easily extend it down the driver side of the tunnel, maybe even add a hinge to it for access, then seat it with screws. I think I would leave part of the tunnel for structural support, but adding an opening would be pretty straight forward I would think.
Good suggestion though.
