I mounted a trans temp (after market) gage & need to wire the light positive lead. What lead have others used to get 12 volts only when lights are turned on? I can get to the headlight switch, but which lead?
If you can get to the back of any of your gauges, it's the grey wire. I'm not sure what fuses your year takes, but if it's the round glass type, the fuse for the instrument lamps is the short one.

Thanks,
I have a 78 with the blade fuses. But I will see if I can access one of the gray wires you mentioned. I am just going for the easiest route without having to disassemble too much. I can get at the headlight swicth with relative ease, but don't know what color lead to go for there??
Dark green is the color of the inst lamp wire at the headlight switch, but it goes from there to the fuse box then turns to grey after the fuse and goes to all the instrument lamps.

Thanks, that's the one!! With the vent duct work lowered I can get that one!
Thanks again
