you will have two horns under the front lip. lift hood look under. there is also one in the driverside fender but that is connected to the alarm circuit.
I just went through this, and even though you don't say if you have NO horn, sick horn or something else, this is what it is:
If you look underneath your tip where your emblem is on top of headlight vac can, there will be a TOP horn (Low note), and down below the vac can, a high note horn.
They are chained in series by a green wire, that comes from your horn relay (that is underneath center console).
If you have NO horn, have someone hold horn button down, and check for 12v AT THE TOP horn connector (1st in line if all stock). If you get the 12v, your horns are dead. If there is not then you have to go backwards, check the relay, fuse in panel, and possibly horn button.
Any experts want to chime in if I forgot something???
P.S - horn locations etc is for my 80, but it is probably same for 79.
Jim Shea has some excellent info on this. My inop horn is within the steering column but you might try his diagnostics. Search his papers at FAQ or lauch the link below.
When I got my '78 the horn barely squalked. Realizing that it rarely gets used and there is a switch and relay in the sysrem, I drove to a spot where I wouldn't bother anyone and repeatedly pushed on the button. It gradually came to life and now it works fine. Just had to get all the old oxidation worn off! Try that first. Just don't hold the button continuously or you may blow the fuse. Good luck.
