Hood removal

I need to remove the hood from my 1980 to do some clean-up and painting on the underside. Any tips for trouble-free R&R? I plan to slide some cardboard in the gaps between the hood and fenders to protect the paint. Can't think of much else except getting a few friends together to help. Ideas appreciated as always.

just scribe the location of the brackets so the adjustment will be easier when you put the hood back on...

And my .02: leave the hood hinges on the inner skirts; remove the hood from the hinges. You'll need a pal to help hold the hood, but two of you can do it.

Good call on both counts , make sure you have a friend or two is the big thing it's not heavy but it's awkwards!! Ron
