Default Rear Spring Info Needeed

Hey Vetters
I need info on rear springs. This is my 2nd "82". The first one had a mono fiberglass spring, which I understand that "82" was the first year that fibergass spring was offered as standard equiptment. This one has a 9 leaf multi spring, with a 3 bolt, spring bracket. Is it possible that this spring has been replaced with one from an "80" or "81". The differential is dated 4-22-82 / 2.87:1 ratio
Can I replace it with an original fiberglass spring, or is there some problems that may occure. Any help is appreciated.....Thanks

Fiberglass / composite is the way to go. Much better handling and ride from what I been told.
I got one sitting on my work bench waiting for me to get the motivation to go out there and put it on.

The base 82 suspension is supposed to have a fiberglass spring standard.

The 82 FE7 Gymkhana Suspension used the 9 leaf steel spring.

Do you have FE7?

I really don't have any way to know if it is an FE7 suspension. I do know that the U joints have the larger bearing dia (1 3/16) vs 1 1/16 that the auto parts store say it should take,
that all I know at this time...I just keep diggin for more info as possible. Thanks

I hope you get motivated, I just replace the whole front suspension, and I'm on to the rear.

Ok, then you have the FE7 and the 9 leaf steel is normal.

Glass only used 81-82 with auto trans and without FE7.

Did my front last winter. pulled everything out, new bushings and coils and paint on all the parts. It started out as a simple radiator replacement until I saw the dried out bushing down there.
Been busy with work, thank the Lord, even had to work last Saturday, but I'll get to it.

Our cars a very cose in B-Day. Mine was born on 4-21-82 with that date written on the underside of the hood.

I also had FE7 option. Heres how the rear looks today
