Default Console Shifter Plate

I bought some parts the other day at The Last Detail.
I wanted to buy the shifter plate because the price was the best I have found.
When I looked at it though, there was what looked like a
scratch about an inch long by the drivers side power window switch.
I was told this is a water jet line made when they pour the mold or something. He said all the ones that they have also have this line/scratch. Its very thin - less than half as thin as a pencil line.
I declined the part.
Has anyone purchased a NEW shifter plate and do you have that thin line/scratch?
Where did you purchase it?
This little scratch would drive me crazy.
By the way, first time I used The Last Detail.
They seem like nice guys...and have good prices.

Thanks

Paul,

thanks for the quick reply.....do you remember how much it was?
Another decent price I found was Zip ...they charge $57 for the shifter plate with the cutouts for PW and DEF switch.
Yours was perfect?....love to hear that...I want mine to be perfect too :D

I purchased one at a vette swap meet for $22.00 new in box..It's still in the box because it needs to have the power window slots cut out.. It did not have a scratch.

If yours is not too bad, look into a local corvette swap meet.. you will be surprised what good deals are out there

Good Luck

I got mine from TLD about three years ago, and don't remember any such scratch nonesense...... I do have the power windows, and did have to cut out the slots for these switches with an 'exacto' knief.........was a real pain in the a__ and took some time as I recall, but it ended up pretty darn good. Don't remember paying anything like the $50 to $60 dollar figure I saw above, thought it was in the low $20s, but that was three years ago.

john,

if you buy the console without the cutouts it is significantly cheaper.
I think Zip has them for $35...but if you want the holes cut out for you, then
its $57......
The Last Detail had them for $45 with the power window switches already cut out...I would still have to cut out the DEF switch hole.

about the scratch - that is what they told me....I caught a little hesitation
in their response and that is why I shyed away...I dont like that kind of dealing........dont pee on me and tell me its raining :)

one more thing -
its interesting how you cut your own holes out and didnt end up with the scratch. All the ones they had were pre-cut....and according to them , they were all that way.....maybe they goofed when they cut a bunch of them and
are trying to slide it by.....
