Default Which headers fit the best?

I have an 80 vette Automatic car with a set of 1-5/8 Headman headers. The collector on the drivers side runs into the shifter linkage. The exhaust i took off the car was a basket case and welded up on a severe angle to miss it? What headers will fit without having to make the exhaust an abortion to clear the shifter linkage?

Many years ago I was under my car and I figured out that the problem with my stock cross member was the sorry *** design of dual exhausts passing through holes being places so near the transmission.

You need to make or buy a pass under cross member.

I had hedman headers that worked fine and then I switched to larger Hooker super comp that also work fine.

Little thread hijack; GKULL were can I find a Daytona hood like that for my '79?
When I did the home hack job on my exhaust I found out the holes in the cross member are not symmetrical as in on the right side it's like 19' from the frame rail and on the drivers side 26' or so.
Didn't seem to be any rhyme or reason as to why that is.
I have 2' pipe exiting just in front of the rear wheels.
Made quite a bit of difference, can actually break the tires loose if I try now.

I bought the whole 1981 one piece front end and TT hood from a company in the back of corvette fever magazine many years ago because my vette go hit when I was parked putting gas in it. I thought it look great , had better aerodynamics, and it saved 150 pounds.

Major time. We cut straight down the front fenders of my 79 about 8 inches in front of the doors and removed the old front end

The cross member has nothing to do with this at all.........The collector and tranny **** linkage is no where near the cross member. I guess nobody runs headers here on thier vettes? i will have to phone manufactures next week i guess?

I can tell you the competition hookers I have fit better in several places than the Hedmans. I have a friend with Headmans on his 76, he doesn’t have problems with the linkage on the stock tranny, but he did have problems in several other areas.

The only issue ever reported with Hedman Elites is they can come close to the idler arm but that is usually a case of worn motor mounts. Are you sure the headers you have on the car or strictly for a Corvette? Could explain a lot if they aren't.

Those we during open practice on different days before qualifying. SCCA also might put a few faster classes together. The super charged 450 hp racing Honda S-2000's are pretty fast.

Miata's are very slow on lap times and about 50 mph slower on the straights. I do about 155 mph past the flag stand like the picture

well i got them off the car last night, and they are the headman 68300. They are supposed to fit my car, made for the car, But are not the right ones. Looks like i will either go to Hooker , or a set of block huggers.

Wow $500.00 US for a set of headers? Sorry cant do it. I can get a Whole system from Corvette central for $600.00. Besides i am only making 325 HP so i really dont need a set of expensive headers for what i am doing.
