stock 454 redline?
I bought a fan blade from summit and it had a sticker on it saying 4,000 max rpm. I dont know about big blocks but wont a stock small block go 6,000? Is this thing gonna come through my hood?
Send that fan back for a refund immediately. And if the supplier didn't tell you about that limitation, tell them that you aren't paying for the freight, either, because that part is not adequate for your car and they didn't tell you about it at time of the order. The fan is likely not made of the proper steel; nor is it balanced well. Otherwise, it wouldn't have the 4000 max. rpm restriction on it. I'm betting that it is cheap, Chinese junk. Spend a few more bucks and get the "real thing".
If your supplier gives you a hard time about it, just mention the words "SAFETY ISSUE" and tell them you'll file a complaint with your state's Attorney General office if they don't agree. If that vendor doesn't have an appropriate part, get your money back and go to NAPA.

I got the same fan and it's been to 6,500. I talked to them on the phone and it wasn't a mechanical limitation of the blade. I think it had something to do with it slipping. The stock 350/300 will rev to ~5,400.
That's basically what the salesperson told me. Mine has a little piece of paper that says 4K on it, and I like checking it. It looks like it's been through a war zone. Regardless of what you should or should not do. I did it and it works fine. Mine sees 5K whenever I'm in a bad mood...

But if you've got your fan bolted directly to the water pump, then exceeding the 4000 rpm limit could result in a blade shearing off and causing some headaches!

Your choice of course....
but that manufacturers label is there 'cause they aren't confident of any more rpm.
5000 rpm (engine) is fine if you have a appropriate fan clutch....

Yes I put a new fan clutch on it also, the old parts were missing when I got it. I went back to the Summit site and looked the fan blade up by specific vehicle application for my car and that is what they showed to be correct for my car. I really dont want my hood modified! lol
