Default New GM Block question

Since I'm in the process of planning for my "rebuild"....been looking at options.

Is the GM Performance 10066034 engine block "ready to go"?? Meaning, any additional machine work needed once it arrives??? This seems like a steal at only $700 for a new block! But, if more machining is required, then the block I have will be the better bet.

Thanks.

If you are feeling saucy and your 401K is performing well, you can always go this route:

Same here, just decided to build what I already had - even though mine is only a 2 bolt block.

I have heard nothing good about the Mexican cast blocks.

Good luck and post some photos, Ed

What about the GMPP turn key engines? I am considering what route to go with my engine and am leaning torward the crate engine. Have there been many issues with these and do they use the same block you all are referring to here?

So what is a good/dependable option to go with, both turn key and short block?

Late model 350 roller cam cores cast in USA are good quality up to the upper 400HP range. I have 3 early 010/020 350 4 bolt blocks with the 2XXX series main caps on them (nodular iron caps for HD truck and LT-1/L-46/L-82 useage.) I'm set for life!

Since the Dart SHP block came our we hardly ever see a 010 block, We have used quite a few of the GM blocks and we have had to send a few back do to poor sonic testing.

It depends on your power goals are and how much you want to spend.

Here is a link to the Dart block.

The Dart block would have been my choice if it would have been available when I built my last motor.
