The "buzzer" is built into the horn relay. It is located in the engine compartment on the left inner wheel well (backside). You can open up the relay by bending the 2 tabs at the bottom of the cover. Then you can check the contacts for burning and clean them if necessary. The center pin (1) is 12vdc IN, and the single pin [on one end of the base] (4) is the contact where the key-buzzer supplys the 'ground' for the circuit. The other 'pair' of pins are from the horn switch (ground) and to the horns. There are two other switches in the key-buzzer circuit: the reed switch in the steering column which is "made" when the key is inserted, and the driver's door jamb switch.
The "sound" part is the horn relay itself. It uses one of the contact sets to 'flutter' when the key is left in AND the driver's door is ajar. The fluttering contact makes the "buzzer" sound. If the horn relay is new, then your problem is in the door jamb switch or the column keylock switch. Test them electrically (with an ohmmeter) before you determine what to buy. [P.S. The column switch is a bi+ch to change.]

Hmm, When mine works the buzzing sound seems to come from the steering column.
Did they change the design between 71 and 73?

In 73, you have a buzzer that sits above the speedometer and tachometer area. You can get at it by removing the top dash pad or dropping the steering wheel down along with the drivers side dash panel.

My 72 has the buzzer above, and to the right of the tach - you can get to it by removing the wiper switch/ac diverter bezel. I believe it's a black 3 prong thing.
wow...something new for me to check out when the warmer weather arrives
my buzzer now works, only because I removed some speakers in the kick panels
and must have touched something by accident.
Alan....since this happened while fiddling with wires near the door, could it be my jamb switch?
