Vibration during accelleration
I recently had a new engine installed, a 350 bored out to a 383. The guy who installed it said that it may be out of time and to bring it back to have him re-check it if I had any problems. I have driven it a few times now and whenever I press the accellerator, it vibrates alot up to 40-45MPH then it will stop and will run normal. From a standstill, when I press the gas pedal it will vibrate as well and will not even break traction. AT cruising speeds when I give it gas, it will hesitate and vibrate as well but will eventually kick in. I took it in today to have a mechanic look at it. He said that it appeared to be in time but from his observation he thought that it could possibly be the harmonic balancer or the flywheel. Does this sound right to anyone? i'm suspicious and don't think we have enough info to make a decent decision. the way i see it, if it's either the balancer or flywheel, the vibration would be the same at a given engine speed regardless of actual speed/gear you're in. is that what you're describing? i would also expect that if something were out of balance that the vibration would get worse as engine speed increased.
