Default Electric Choke ?

I'm shopping for a set of replacement heads and finding their are limited after market heads with heat crossovers. Is the electic choke conversion going to operate properly in the north. With cold mornings in the spring and fall? (35-40 degree's) I'm assuming (which I don't like to do) that others have this same situation. Pro's and con's, and advice needed.

An electric choke works fine without a heat crossover. Electricity alone heats the spring so it's function is an outcome of time, rather than crossover temperature. Only downside to an electric choke is if you have some problems starting the car, the clock is ticking as the choke will begin to open as soon as you turn the key to run.

I just put on the CU445 model from here - http://www.carburetion.com/quadrajet.asp - onto my 72.

It includes a heat sensor that uses the front manifold bolt to determine when to open. Seems to work great!
