I have a 72 with an automatic and A/C and I'm trying to figure out what's the best location to mount an MSD 6A box. I would prefer to leave under the hood with a stock appearance at first glance but I'm aware that with the bright red MSD distributor cap it's not going to be that big of a deal if it's not. Any suggestions?

Thanks. Did you have to remove anything or is there somewhat easy access?

Wasn't bad. Removed the center section and front cover with the map pocket. Mine is a '74, so my dash may be a little different than yours. Did you search posts on this topic? I know that it shows up from time to time.

MSD 6AL is right behind the stereo in the console and the Fuel Injection computer is behind the glove compartment. 78'

Default Thanks for the info

I had originally though of the compartments behind the seats. You guys are great. I would have never thought of half the places. I see most are not inside the vehicles but I'm asuming to the ones that are inside there haven't been any overheating problems or shorts that may cause fire.

Left front fender, just in front of the vents.
There is no reason to mount it inside the car, it's made to be outside.

I was told to mount it away from heat. Ended up putting it up under the dash and wiring through the firewall. Never had a problem.

I put mine on the right side tucked up behind the washer tank and the overflow tank. i paint the MSD cap and coil black so that it isn't visible under the shroud.

I sprayed mine black and pulled the splash panel under the drivers fender and used double sided tape and stuck it to the firewall.

There are enough vacuum hoses in that area that I run the wiring with them.

Nobody has ever even seen it.

Me too. If you've got a '72, you can access it by taking off the egg crate grill.
