Will Edelbrock Performer heads w/ CompCams #1412-16 roller tip rockers, and .468/.489 lift cam fit under the stock valve covers.
The roller tip rockers should fit under the stock valve covers just fine. They are basically the same dimension as stock arms with the exception of the roller tip.
That's what I wasn't sure of, as Edelbrock states to use .100 longer push rods, and the rocker arms are 1.52" ratio and I didn't know if that would give me too much lift on the cam as well. I'm new to this, but coming down to the final stretch with my parts list.
On second thought, will I have to use longer push rods with the 1.52 ratio rocker arms?
I have the Edelbrock 60909 heads and they do specify the longer pushrods - I decided to go hyd roller on the cam but Jegs does sell the specific + size pushrods for flat tappet applications.
IIRC, the 1.52 ratio is basicaly stock, the aftermarket rockers just provide a true 1.52.
standard covers should be fine - the GMPP slant-edge design is really nice and it does provide more rocker clearance - cost around $240 set

Yes you will have to use .100 longer pushrods with the Edelbrock heads. It is the head design that requires the longer pushrods as the height of the rocker syuds is raised doe to the exhaust ports being raised for better flow characteristics. If you used stock legnth pushrods you would not have enough adjustment (thread on the rocker stud) to properly adjust the lash.
I have the Performer RPM heads and used the .100 longer pushrods
(7.900 I believe) when I had the flat tappet cam. I spun a rod bearing in that motor within 300 miles and have since built a 383 with a roller cam.
