Yes Yes and Yes. It has been done many times but you will definitly need a L88 hood or higher. The headers yes there is a clearance problem and ditch the brake booster for a hydroboost. Many other fitament problems but nothing time and money can't fix. Not a bolt in motor swap.
when i installed my 572 i used a l88 drop base aircleaner and a 3" element and a carb with no choke horn which left about 1/2 - 3/4 from the top of the carb to the bottom of the aircleaner lid.
If you put a long 2x4 across the air cleaner and measured to the bottom of the drip rails it measured 4.25 inches.
This puts you 1/8 to taller than the ecklers l88 hood to just touch the air cleaner.
If you are not willing to make your own l88 hood then you possible could look at machining 1/4 inch off of the carb flange on the intake - the intake is pretty thick in this area but taking .25 inches is pushing it.
You could go find an old elderbrock torcker IIR and use spacer plates to adapt it to the tall deck. This would put your hood clearance very close to what you need.
I had one of these torker IIr's on a short deck 427 and could use the stock 79 hood - they are a very low aftermaket single plane manifold that worked quite well on 427 or 454, never tried one on anything bigger.
i had a hood that someone had put an L88 scope onto and it just touched the air cleaner. So i am in the process of making a new hood because i want to use a 4" aircleaner element any way - this 572 needs lots of air.
