Very, very nice work Stan, and crew.Ya all are elgible for frequent flyer miles!
Glad you are enjoying Texas. You should try west Texas.Talking about HOT!Go to work early, and swim all afternoon!
A very nice car,and fun read.
We are about 2 weeks from the roll cage install. Between now and then, Mike Dyer (Tracdogg) is coming down and we'll try to complete some of the other work on the car, get new clutch master and slave installed, bled and functional, reinstall tranny, get modified cross member back from Mike Gregory (HoustonVett) and get this puppy running and on the street again. Installing stereo, completing underhood wiring, getting headlights to raise and lower again (wiring got disconnected), get speedo to work, fuel level gauge calibrated, finish underdash wiring. The closer we come to being complete with all other work on the car beFORE final paint, the happier we all will be.
I am considering a Baldwin Motion-like rear end and stripe (white rear end with wide stripe going forward to the L88 hood scoop.) May put silhouette of lonestar or State of Texas on rear deck. This may end up being entirely too gaudy but I won't know until I see the car in full paint. I've had striped cars before and liked them but my Z06 and 2002 S/C cars don't have them. We'll see.
If you have striping suggestions and want to post a pic, your input would be appreciated.
Haven't posted in a while. Body work continues, still working on right throwout bearing and hydraulic slave cylinder, about to take car to have roll cage installed. More to come soon.
In the meantime, here are some other drag videos from BG this year. Many thanks to Frank (Mr Mojo). You DA MAN!
I've been outta the loop for several years, but I didn't know that a convertible could run 11.08 with no top or roll-bar/roll-cage at an NHRA-sanctioned track

Not to worry. We did 10.946 @122 then another run at 129 trap speed. Then put it back on the trailer to come back to Texas where it has been in the garage pretty much since. The track was rented privately that day in BG. On regular track, would have been thrown off. Within a week or so, the car will be getting a roll cage.
Well Dave, I guess brilliant minds think alike! I like your ride, I did a vert in blue!
Starting the Nov 2009 issue, Corvette Enthusiast is running a series of 3 articles on Bruiser's motor, then there will be one or more articles on the car itself.
Hey...I have done, and been involved in a few thrashes. I know what it is like to go to the wire wondering if it will happen...and then what "might happen" if things break on the maiden voyage.....
C5rider and I took off from FL to PA in 07 right after slamming the LS2 in the 85 Vette with only a couple hundred miles on the clicker! TZracer got his car together (including changing brake pads the day he rolled out) litterly hours before driving it to the 50th in 2003!
GOOD STUFF!
I'm looking forward to my November issue!
Thanks for showing how to build a bad to the bone big block...flared fendered shark!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Finally got some time to sit down and read the article. Very nice - and it gives some good thought process into quality of parts - materials, and consideration when building a huge on large street engine with the ability take some hard core drag racing...and live a nice long life!
Thanks Chris. Having fun. Did you sell Killer? Looks like you've moved as well!
DP
Yep...sold Killer = hated doing it. My five year old son is still kicking my butt about it. There will never be another like it - and it continues to serve as a real icon of what a Shark can be (should be) with the right balance of parts and creativity.
It was all part of getting my family ready to relocate - little did I know it would be to Central Illinois - from Central FL.
The new owner is treating her right...and taking her to the next level
- drag link
- more tuning (special chip/tweaks to the EFI)
- high end clutch
- trans mods to lighten the gears for aggressive high RPM shifts
- sticky tires
It now reflects his personality and is an extension of his creativity - which is the greatest compliment to owner/builder/driver - enthusiast.
I'm busy banging away in the garage to create a substitute. Also working with Andy and CE - look for the 8.1 engine swap conversion on a newstand near you soon.....
