Default 388 Build Progress Pics

Well I was sick of polishing for a while so I decided to take some pictures and share them with you guys. I am building the motor for a close friend and forum member (that never posts). The car and I have a long history and when I whiped a cam lobe last year, I told the owner I would make it up to him. Well 40-50 hours later and counting I think I am doing pretty well. The motor will be going in Mark's 1981 black on black 4 speed.
388 4.060 350 block with an Eagle stroker crank 3.75
Dart Pro1 215 heads 2.055/1.6 ported and polished (by Me)
Hydraulic roller cam-246/254 duration at .050 lift
-.595/.595 lift with 1.6
Retro hydraulic roller lifters
918 beehive springs
titanium retainers
Eagle I beam rods
Keith Black Hyper. pistons 10.8-11:1
Victor Jr
Holley 750 carb worked 835cfm 75/77 jets
possibly rev kit and stud girdles

In Desktop dyno the motor made 531 HP@ 6000RPM and 512 lbft. of torque from 4500-5000RPM. Even at 2000RPM it was 400 lbft.!!!!!
Now for the pics. Remember this is my first attempt at porting but I will be able to flow them when I am done. I will compare my numbers to Dart's flow specs.

BTW: Yes, that is my dorm room/workshop lol

It was already in the motor when i tore it apart for the cam so idk. There are kits on summit but my suggestion would be to spring for the balanced kit. It is worth it!

With that much duration you should go solid roller. That is a lot of duration for a hyd roller in a 388 motor. Should make good power.

The motor is going to see a lot of street miles and I dont want to be bothered with valve adjustments. If the need arises it will be done in the future. I will keep it in mind for sure. Thanks
