Default Changing Fuel Pump

The stock fuel pump recently went out on my 75,
I checked with the DMV here in CA,
and 75 and older cars don't have to be smogged.
So i was thinking about removing the stock pump
and putting in an electric pump by the tank.
I'm use to older cars which only had 1 fuel line,
this has 2 from the tank.
I was thinking about replacing the original pump but found its a little too cramped in there to get in back in,
but i could blockoff the pump hole.
my questions are, Whats the 2nd line?
if i move the pump to the back, what about the 2nd line?
is there anything im forgetting about?

Unless you have crazy horsepower, there is no advantage in not using an original pump and no downside.

The 2nd line, the return fuel line helps keep the fuel a little cooler and can help keep the pressure from spiking and overcoming the carb needle and seat.

If you feel you must, any parts store should have a block off in their bling section.

Remove right front tire & use long exts. I have A/C & that's my method.
