Right now just at idle as there is still snow here.
The idle screws are all the way in and it is still to rich. The plugs are black and dry and the O2 sensor shows a rich exhaust.
I have pulled the air horn off and had a look at the jets they are the right size 72 and the primary rods are one size smaller than spec at 49 instead of 50. The power piston is fully seated at idle and the apt is lower than spec. I am going to try the spec rods and to lower the apt a bit more. This carb is a truck carb and I feel that that might be part of my problem.
The truck carb is no problem. Your idle screws being seated and not killing the engine is wrong. That is where we need to start looking. Get the right primary rods in and adjust the APT to spec. I have to get to work, but will try to post a list of things to check later.
I think I found my problem. I ran the car for a bit and then removed the air horn. I found fuel leaking around the top gasket from the front of the carb around the passenger side. Upon looking the air horn with a straight edge I can see the the air horn is warped. anyone got the torque specs for the nine bolts that fasten the air horn?
I don't know of torque value, but there is a tightening sequence in most service manuals and all rebuild kits. If you need it, let me know and I will try to post.
