Default Window regulator question

Can the window regulator be held in place with bolts instead of rivets?

absolutely and i did it to mine. sorry i dont have any pictures but i think it works better then rivets. once done its great to put in and out as many times as you please without drilling rivets. i used dome shaped bolts with philips style heads and pushed them through from the cabin side of car then used loc washer and normal nuts to lock it in place, just be sure to make it a snug fit ( is it a 3/8 hole?)

its not too hard to get a ring spanner in behind to tighten up in fact i think you will only get the open end in . from memory is there 3 ? i did this 3 years back and havent had any trouble since but have had it out once or twice to do other things and its a breeze now. i think i did it originally to install one of those regulator teeth repair kits.

GingerBread is right on the button.

You can do this and it will work. You really need to make sure you use a locking type nut!

The reason rivets were use was fear of vibrations loosening the nuts.

Hmmm, I thought they used rivets because it was cheaper and faster during assembly.

Actually earlier cars use 1/4-20 hardware to bolt the regulator in. You may want to use some "clip nuts" to make installation easier when you bolt them in. One of the scariest sights I have ever seen is the door panel flexing while windows are running, can you say: metal fatigue and stress cracking waiting to happen? They all do this, great design

As stated you sure can, I'd also install lock washers to keep pressure on the nut so they have less of a chance to vibrate loose.
