Not Corvette related unless you consider my Corvette parts getter corvette related. I had my 92 Chevy pickup on the hwy and the temp gauge started to spike and go down rapidly. That tells me there's air in the block. The rad has always been full and so is the overflow tank. I don't think it would be a stuck thermostat because of how fast it spikes. I'm assuming it's the hot air hitting the temp sender. Any ideas?
I got off the Hwy and drove it home and the temp gauge stayed normal .
or bad sending unit... one thing i did was drill a small hole in the thermostat so i would not get any airlocks in the system seems to work for me. don't know if that's your problem.

I drove the truck Sunday and the temp was ok for a while and then slowly creeped up. I pulled over and let it cool down. It only took 10 minutes before it was cool enough to pull the rad cap which was a little quick . There's no fluid leaking or water in the oil. I think you may be right about the sending unit.
Is there a little bleeder on the thermostat housing? If so, get it up to temperature and with it running back it out until air comes out. Leave it backed out until no air is left and spraying coolant. Tighten it back up. Have one on my V6 camaro that was doing the same thing. This cured it.
