Default Vacuum trouble

Hi, just rebuilt my sb 350 with a comp cams roller cam, lift .502, .510 duration 276, 282 grind # s xr276hr-10. Did I kill the vacuum I need to operate my headlights and wiper? I don't have a vacuum gauge, but my wiper door and headlights don't operate. Any suggestions? Other changes where 650 CFM Holley, Edelbrock Performer, milled the heads and added oversized valves, 10:1 pistons and .003 overbore. Thanks for your help.

No your vac should be fine with that cam. I would go get a gauge so you can establish a base line to work off of. Without a vac reading we cannot tell if you don't have a leak. Another words before you start trying to track down problems let's find out if it is even a leak in the first place.

thanks, I'll get a gauge. it runs great, so I didn't suspect a leak.

This also happened to me it turned out to be a disconnected vac. line due to the new manifold/carb. installation, check all vac line's / check valve's.

All the best, good luck !

I would expect to see at least 14"-16" of vac. One you get a base line start pulling hoses and pluging ports and see if the vac increases if you find one that does then you can easily trace the problem area.

Hi, got a vacuum gauge, I'm getting 14 lbs thru the check valve, 0 out of the vacuum tank. The tank must be leaking. Can I by pass this? I don't seem to be able to find anyone who sells these tanks. Any suggestions?

I would check Corvette America, Ecklers, Rik's corvette etc for the replacement tank. The tank is used for storage so I would not remove it.

You can bypass it, but none of your vacuum operated gizmos will work without the engine running.

Thanks for the help, searched the internet last night, no one sells correct replacement tank. I picked up one that will work from Wilcox.
