There has been a few threads on this before,, for myself I kinda used logic,, I reversed the cone towards the top,,, this way the smaller end of the cone will not get damaged from the big 1 1/4 inc hole. or if you like there is more support.
Just did my C3 with the same bushings. YES you have them the way they are supposed to be. My old ones were so shot that the body was 1 1/4 inches higher after installin the new bushings.
Good Luck

I mentioned above that I positionned the pads like the photo but reversed the cone,,, I did this a few years ago so I checked my pics,,I was wrong... after scratching my head I do recall that I could not position the cone in such a way that the body would rest on it,, there is just to much hight,, you will end up looking like a 4x4, I ended up resting the body on the large flat pad and the cone obviously on the other side of the mount. Any other views ??? I know the kit came with instructions but they are for stock rubber mounts,, I probably dosn't matter much,, they are so stiff,,,
I think there is a difference between Rubber- vs - urathane bushings. They even look different , I remember saying to myself that it does not look correct the 1st time that Chris73cpe posted his pictures, then I saw instructions for installing urathane bushings and Chris's were on correctly. I just replaced my #4 mount bracket ( )but I used my old rubber bushings because I had replaced them only a few years ago.
Glad that job is done!!
Good luck

My kit really didn't come with any instructions, so I did a lot of looking on the internet too. If i had used the flatter one on top then the body would've been lower than the collapsed rubber mount and probably would've changed the door gaps a little. I only replaced the #4 mounts because both the body reinforcement and frame bracket were completely rotted out. The narrow end of the cone still has that metal sleeve inside, so I wasn't too worried about it getting damaged. I'd rather have the larger surface against the thinner metal/fiberglass of the body than the 1/8" metal frame bracket.
I think I'll just use the cushions in whatever configuration necessary to emulate the body/frame positioning as it is at the moment. The car is well hung together and the lines are nice.

I did mine('74 vert) a few years ago, this how they look now,not sure why I put them in this way,I suppose it made sense at the time.I think I wanted more of the urethane against the flimsy sheet metal mount and 'glass instead of the frame bracket.
Hopefully your bolts come out without any grief, the caged nuts usually break free and spin,I ended up having to remove the entire spring and hinge assy, what a PITA!
I will try Ron's configuration. The seating on that top mount into the frame bracket hole looks a little off but that's OK! Looks like I can get that top cushion in without trying to lift the body and ... you, know the drill when you hoist on the body, a crack on the fiberglass!!
