I just installed the bare softtop frame back on my car. there is approx 3/8" gap in the middle between the header bow and window frame. Is that normal? The bow does not look like it is bent and set flat on each side.
No, the weather strip is not installed. I believe when the weatherstrip is installed, it will seal the gap. It just seems to me the bow should fit the window frame better. I will take a picture tonight and post it tomorrow. Thanks for the help.
Are the windshield frame locating pins installed on the header bow? If they are, are they sitting in the locating holes on the windshield frame? Make sure that the rest of the top is positioned properly. If the rest of the top is positioned too low, it can kick the header bow up a bit. Also check to see if the gap is caused by the tack strips on the header.
Could be a combination tack strip frame height. The original metal was rusted away on each side. I welded in new metal and formed it as best as I could figure the original was. I may have not gotten it exactly right. as far as the top height, I set it so there was 1/4 inch gap between the last bow and the deck lit. That measurement wa taken at the point where the bow attached on each side. Is that correct? I am only quessing.
