charging problem
please help having a charging problem with my 82 crossfire .
Checked the alt. showed good.
the batteries' new.
Drove it today alt guage showed 13 when I started drove about 30 miles and it dropped to 8 then everything went dead. Going to start tearing into it tomorrow wondering what you would suggest to start with??

The alternator is not charging. How did it check good? Get it running again and look at the back of the alternator. You will see a D shaped hole. Inside that hole there is a small tab. Use a small screwdriver and ground that tab to the case of the alternator. Watch the gauge. It should charge at full force ~ 15V. If it charges the regulator is bad. If it does not charge the alternator is bad.
