Windshield replacement on 1980 help!
I know this ones been thrown around a bit on the forum but..... I ask for a bit of help.
As I now have no windshield on my 80, due to me removing to clean/remove all the rust that was on me birdcage/wind frame, i have learned that trying to get someone out to replace it is not such and easy task

From what I am learning there are not a whole lotta Glass Replacement poeple out there that will do this on a corvette, why I do not know but its becoming an issue. Now my old windshield has some cracks, 2 of them about 2-3" long that are from the top right side from the edge going towards the center, no big deal thought that could be repaired.
Well, things have changed since it was removed, now i have same as above except...now i have 5 more on the other side, 3 that are 3" or so and 2 that are now 7-8" long on pass side of glass.
What I am being told is that if the cracks run to the out side of glass then there is no repair and it must be replaced so.. i need to replace it.
Ok, so on to that journey, got all my rust issues taken care of nicely, found one tiny pin hole that was it, stripped down to bare metal the whole wind frame, fixed pin hole with jb and put on some 3m one step primer, looks nice! but here is my delima,
I cant get anyone to come out and replace my windshield! arrrrg!
So all this nice long story just to ask anyone if they know of someone in the Bowling Green Ohio area that can do without screwin it all up and wont want my left arm and leg?

I am surprised you can't get someone to come and replace it. If you do that job yourself, you will need some tools, like two handles to grab the windshield...a coating, I forgot the name, maybe it's etching but it's needed before the butyl is applied, some rubber spacers to keep the glass off the metal, an air powered caulk gun...you will break the manual caulk bun trying to get the butyl out and of course butyl...apply the etching liquid first, place the rubber stoppers, trial fit the glass..remove, apply a liberal amount of butyl, and replace the glass to the exact location...you will get one shot at this as once the glass hits the butyl, it will be extremely hard to move it...good luck
