Header guage
Is the guage of the headers an important thing to consider. I know you can buy 18 guage headers for 80 bucks or the same headers in 14 guage for more like 500 bucks. what does the gauge of the headers help or hurt.

The [steel] gauge of the header tubes relates to the thickness of the tubing walls. That translates into how sturdy, durable, and heat/wear resistant the headers will be. Do you want to buy a Corvette or a Yugo? You certainly don't need to spend $500 for headers. But you also don't want to end up with tubing made from tin cans. Buy a decent brand of ceramic-coated headers. They will last a long time and also limit the heat build-up in the engine compartment.

It depends on what is important to you.
Hooker intentionally makes their Super Comp headers out of 18 ga tubing because it is light.
Their Comp headers are actually thicker (16 ga.) than the Super Comps.
