Default 1970 Quadrajet question

Hello all, does anyone know what the difference is between a 1970 rochester #7040205 and a 1971 #7041205 besides the year obviously. I have a '70, 454, mt no thermactor. The guy before me put a holley on an otherwise perfect number matching car. I dont need it to be date corrct at this point as it is only a driver, however, I want a Quad that requires no mods to work perfectly...You guys are the gurus...what do you think??

The breakdown on the part number is as follows:
7041205

70= Rochester (some Quadrajets were manufactured by Carter)
41= year code for 1971
2= 49 state emission (5 for CA emissions)
0= Chevy
5= Odd number for manual, even for auto

As I recall, there were letter designations following the part number that further identifies the part. Do you have letters after the part number?
