Im in the middle of rebuilding the front suspension and steering on my 76 . Am thinking of going with the mono leaf front spring system doing away with the coil springs has any body installed this system and how is the ride
It is a very god suspension. Ride quality much improved. Adjustable spring rate, and ride height. If you do a search for mono spring on this forum, you'll learn all ya need to know.
I have it on my '82 and love it. Done some autoX and very spirited street driving and it is a HUGE improvement. Can't say much about systems as the only modified C3 I've been in is mine.
Worst handling Vette I ever drove had this sytem on it. I wouldn't do it. Grand Touring suspension system is what I would run.
That doesn't exactly offer any reasoning WHY it was the worst handling vette you ever drove... there are any number of reasons why it would have been handling poorly, and instead of making a blanket statement like that, perhaps you should offer some more constructive observations.
Personally, I've run the monospring setup from VBP, along with boxed uppper and lower arms, poly bushings, shock tower brace, 7/8 sway up front. cheap gas shocks. Handles like it's on rails. Set it up stiff and give yourself plenty of camber, then work your way down to the level of driveability you prefer on the street.
well im going to order the kit from vbp on the 30th along with tublar upper control arms and a rack attack steering system figure now the time since i have the engine out for a rebuild

Either they didn't have it tuned correctly or something was seriously wrong with their setup. I use the VBP front and rear dual mount mono leaf springs and they handle just fine even on road courses.
I've gotten very favorable comments back from several instructors that were ex-corvette engineers & ametaur racers about how well balanced my car was. However, I don't have the exact setup that VBP sells as a kit and it has taken me a couple of years to get it sorted out. IMHO, VBP uses way too large of swaybars in the kit.
