just had the quadrajet rebuilt on my 81. the 4 bbl wasn't kicking in. just got it back and it ran perfect for about an hour. came to a stop sign and it died. had to keep one foot on the gas to get it home. it wont idle. set a screw on the side by the linkage up to make it idle but now it idles rough. does the computer adjust the idle on an 81??? just checking for a little advice before i take it back to the shop. thanks, namvet
Either a vacuum leak or something went wrong in the rebuilt carb. Make sure none of the vacuum hoses came off. Make sure the carb is bolted on tight enough. You can spray WD-40 around the base of the carb and if the idle smooths out there is a vacuum leak.

Check with the WD 40 and look for something (vac hose) loose. If you check the mounting bolts, do NOT over tighten them. It can crack the main body of the carb.
These are great carbs, but it is hard to find someone who really knows how to rebuild them correctly nowadays. Hopefully yours is good, and something just came loose.
