I'm not familiar with c-3 a/c system, what are these two parts, what do they do, can/should they be cleaned out? I have a new comp. and drier and I am changing the fittings to r-134. any info or suggestions? should I flush the evaporator/condensor out?

i am no aircon expert and since my car is an 81 im only speculating cause my system looks different but i think the smaller valve is the expansion . the larger is your POA which controls the cycle of your refrigerant going around your system . i think you will have to change that one out for a totally new one if you go to R134 as they have a low/high pressure switch on it and are different for the new gas. they are about 100 bucks. it looks like you have your engine out so while you are at it i would unbolt that airbox of fthe firewall completely and clean out all the leaves and so on that are probably in there. clean out your core in there as well and get the airflow back to where it should be if yours seems a little down.
Thanks, poa & expansion valves.. that rings a bell but chrysler products come to mind.. I was thinking about taking that box off since its all this far down. So...new poa valve, comp.,drier, o-rings, correct oil, 134 fittings, evac&recharge w/134..... anything wrong/missing from this plan?

I would also replace all the rubber A/C hoses. Most likely the rubber A/C hoses are cracked and porous.
Just a thought, Have you looked at Hot Rod Air. They have a complete replacement system for your car. Other members have used it, you might do a search. It seems to deal with a number of problems you have now as well as clean up the engine compartment.
Good call gingerbread.. pulled that box down and it was full of mud from hornets or whatever they are.. couple rusty pieces I can fix to. Thinkin I should go ahead and put a heater core in it to.. and yes I may look into the hot rod air stuff, i dunno, most the oe stuff is still available from my shops parts suppliers pretty inexpensive and I have most of it allready also.. who know, can allways send it back if the other deal looks like the way to go..
