Im confused, I have a set of Hooker side mount sidepipes, do I still need the rocker moldings and what is the upper and lower.
I dont have them so I might have to buy but dont know what I need.
68 & 69 both used a 2 piece rocker molding. A full size fiberglass piece with a thin aluminum strip. They are a bit pricey compared to the 70 up which while not correct will fit.
I took my back tires off and slid them into place after the hookers were installed
You might have to trim the fiberglass some to get the Hookers to fit and I think it does look better when you do re-install the panels but some guys don't bother.
I wouldn't modify the 69 rocker mouldings in any way because they are very expensive. I would try using a cheaper set of moulding from a later year and modify them if you have to. good luck
They definitely have a more finished look with the rocker moldings in place. I have a 68 but put on a set of the 70 rocker moldings because I didn't want to cut up or modify the 68 two piece ones.
I got lucky they fit without any trimming. And as Rick said above, take off the rear tire and they'll slide into place.
