I am looking at getting a set of Cragar Soft 8 wheels for my '76 Corvette. They are 15x8 and only $60 each at SummitRacing.com. I am unsure if they will fit properly though, and need some guidance before I order them. Here is the link to them:
Not sure on the wheel specs but I recall other related posts saying 255's would rub in the front but work in the rear with stock backspacing. Try search feature too. Lots of wheel/tire info to be found.
I contacted Cragar by e-mail and they responded within 30 minutes. I must say I was surprised! They confirmed that part #3985834 was correct and that "it will actually fit perfectly to your vehicle." Looks like I will be ordering a set. I'll post some pictures after I get them installed since I couldn't find any pictures of C3's with Soft 8's.
I think I will be putting 255/60/15's on the back and 225/70/15's on the front to avoid rubbing issues.

You can't get high performance tires in a 15" rim any more. I have been looking for a 17" I like for a year, but I would not wast my money on a 15" IMHO

I'm not really looking for high performance tires at all. The car is basically stock except for exhaust system upgrades. I'm happy with the way it is, which is a nice weekend driver. I'll be getting BFG Radial T/A's.
If you're concerned about "rubbing issues" and you are purchasing the tires and installing them at a professional tire store, then do what I did when I had the same concerns..... After they installed the tires AND before it was driven even 1 foot, I had them lower my car so the all the weight were on the tires, then I went under the car and had them (1) turn the steering wheel "lock-to-lock" to see if the fronts rubbed....then I (2) looked under the rears closely to see if they rubbed anything. I had purchased 255x60xr15 and the fronts rubbed...barely but none the less RUBBED....so I had them take those off and I purchased the next size smaller (235x60x15)...did the same inspection and NO RUB...in fact with about an inch to spare. That was about 2 years ago and NO PROBLEMS!! They (the tires store) had no problems switching them because the tires never "hit the streets" and they can sell them as brand new. I purchased the Goodyear Eagle ST with RWL. Good luck!
Everybody has a different idea what beauty/ugly is!
That being said, I don't believe I have ever seen those wheels on a Corvette ....on any year.
I have wheels that look similer on my 94 F150 truck though!
