The C4 Guys have pretty much ruled out the shorty Headers from a Performance standpoint they just don't have much of an advantage over the Manifolds. The 81's came with Factory Shorty Headers You could always try them. I'd go with full lenght Headers or none at all.

Any header is better than a manifold. The only dyno proven difference i have seen between the two is 7 foot pounds torque. No HP difference. The full length header helps scavenge exhaust. Unless your building a race engine, dont worry about it.
Corvette central has nice complete exhaust kits, including headers and full exhaust that will fit our cars.

The C4 shorties are a big improvement over my smog legal Rams Horns.
I'm looking forward to replacing them, can't wait to see the difference.
I'm thinking about shorties for the ground clearance. I like the hand made ones that copy the RHs. I've offered my car as a test mule but so far no interest. lol
