Guys, in the 72 Chevy shop manual the function is changed. There is no second vacuum line from the carburetor to the solenoid and the only gear that activates TCS operation is high gear whether it is an automatic, 3 speed or 4 speed.
The text says there is a notch or flat in the 4th gear (3rd gear in a 3 speed) shift lever that allows a cup inside the switch to make contact with the switch housing causing the TCS circuit to activate. The cup is insulated from the switch housing in all other forward gears.
So now we all know that the 70-71 TCS system works differently than the 72-73 TCS system.
