i just had a 2500 installed this past week and the tranny shop said that since it was only a thousand more than stock i would be ok without using a cooler.

to find the speed of yours
just hold the brake and hit the gas
where it brakes loose and starts moving is the stall speed.

Somewhere around 2000 rpm..1800-2000 would be normal for a stock engine. Torque converter stall speed is rated based on the input torque applied to it, so if you have upgraded your engine at all, you'll need to call a converter manufacturer to tell them about your engine/HP/torque in order to get a good match. [i.e., an 1800 rpm stall unit for a 365 HP engine would stall about 2100 rpm if the engine were upgraded to 400 HP; the more HP applied, the higher the stall speed for a given converter]
